A Method for Simulating Dna Electrophoresis in Electrically Insulating Microfluidic and Nanofluidic Geometries

چکیده
We present a hybrid boundary element method (BEM)/Brownian dynamics (BD) algorithm for simulating DNA electrophoresis in an inhomogeneous electric field. The accuracy of the method is demonstrated by studying the collision with a finitesized cylindrical post, where the exact solution of the electric field is known.

Simulation of DNA electrophoresis in systems of large number of solvent particles by coarse-grained hybrid molecular dynamics approach
Simulation of DNA electrophoresis facilitates the design of DNA separation devices. Various methods have been explored for simulating DNA electrophoresis and other processes using implicit and explicit solvent models. Explicit solvent models are highly desired but their applications may be limited by high computing cost in simulating large number of solvent particles. In this work, a coarse-gra...
متن کاملA Brownian dynamics-finite element method for simulating DNA electrophoresis in nonhomogeneous electric fields.
The objective of this work is to develop a numerical method to simulate DNA electrophoresis in complicated geometries. The proposed numerical scheme is composed of three parts: (1) a bead-spring Brownian dynamics (BD) simulation, (2) an iterative solver-enhanced finite element method (FEM) for the electric field, and (3) the connection algorithm between FEM and BD. A target-induced searching al...
متن کاملFault Tolerant DNA Computing Based on Digital Microfluidic Biochips
Historically, DNA molecules have been known as the building blocks of life, later on in 1994, Leonard Adelman introduced a technique to utilize DNA molecules for a new kind of computation. According to the massive parallelism, huge storage capacity and the ability of using the DNA molecules inside the living tissue, this type of computation is applied in many application areas such as me...
متن کاملFemtosecond Laser 3D Fabrication in Porous Glass for Micro- and Nanofluidic Applications
The creation of complex three-dimensional (3D) fluidic systems composed of hollow microand nanostructures embedded in transparent substrates has attracted significant attention from both scientific and applied research communities. However, it is by now still a formidable challenge to build 3D microand nanofluidic structures with arbitrary configurations using conventional planar lithographic f...
متن کاملNanofluidic Molecular Filters for Size-Separation of Biomolecules
Micro/nanofluidic molecular sieving structures[1] have great potential for faster molecular separation. However, their use has been largely limited to big molecules such as DNA, since it is rather challenging to fabricate structures with near-molecular dimensions. We present a novel separation method using nanofluidic filters, which is based on the steric hindrance effect of molecules[2-4]. Whe...
